Being pretty behind the times, I have only noticed in recent months that there is a new Voltron series.

I've not personally seen it myself, I will eventually.

What I would like to know is your thoughts on the new series versus the old. Which one did you see first? Do you think the new series does the old series justice?

Try to keep your opinions polite, there is no need for fighting among the group because one person likes the new series and someone else likes the old series. Because we can all agree anything is better than what they did in the 90s.

I grew up on the original series. And I loved GoLion. So this new one...I can only watch about 2-3 minutes of it before I want to yell and throw things. They've pretty much shredded the concept, pasted in new bits and added the Cadets (ACK) to appeal to a younger age group. The Lion switching is an interesting concept, but it's not enough to keep me watching.

I applaud serenitysmoon for being so open-minded. As for me, I'm old-school Voltron till I die.

Honestly, I would say don't waste your time with the new Voltron series. It's not as horrific as the 90's series but I have plenty of complaints. My biggest is the junior pilots. I can understand introducing them would help bring in more of an audience but I just don't care for them what so ever. Voltron was about certain characters and when you try to remove those characters or give them less of a focus, the show is no longer what is expected. I think I would like the new series better if it was something that took place serveral years in the future.

I own the entire Voltron and GoLion series. The GoLion series is soooo good!! The characters are stronger, the voice actors are really good, and the events that take place have made me yell "WHAT?!?NO!!!" at the tv more than once.

I have recently watched Beast King Golion and although I grew up with Voltron and Voltron has a special place for me, Golion is edgier in its uncensored form. I have not seen the new series which sounds like it has done more than use a character's brother to resurrect a character that was killed early in the series and had more episodes produced which kept villains alive that were originally killed at the end of the series. (Like was done with the original Lion Team Voltron)

I enjoyed Golion too. I wish I could have found more episodes of it, but my friends and I only found one disk at a local video store.

So far, I have watched about 70% of the new series, and was a huge fan of the original and have watched about half of GoLion. The new series keeps to some of the original plotlines, but there are a few differences in continuity that have bugged me like for instance, planet Balto, in the original was destroyed, and is amazingly back and thriving in the new series, Sven now has a son but there is no word on what happened to Princess Romelle and he is now from some wierd planet instead of Pollux but I suppose those are types of differences are to be expected. All in all, the series is interesting, and I do like the new powers that Voltron has when the lions switch out as the head. I also like the fact that they have started building backstories for the original characters that were never in the original. So I believe it is worth watching. After all, if you love Voltron, isn't any Voltron Great?! :D

Last comment is a fallacy. The 90s Voltron with the horrible old computer graphics makes me want to stab the producers.
